Over the years aesthetic professionals have learned that simply pulling or lasering skin to achieve tightness isn’t enough to complete a successful rejuvenation of the face. We have found that in order to restore a youthful appearance, volume needs to be added to certain areas. As we age, volume loss in the; cheeks, lips, under the eyes, temples, and around the mouth (smile lines) creates a gaunt, sunken-in look.
Dermal fillers have been around for decades proving to be highly effective and safe at turning back the clock when it comes to facial aging. These non-surgical, minimally invasive treatments have helped patients look and feel younger in a few short office visits. Sometimes we refer to this treatment as a “liquid facelift”.

What is a dermal filler?
A dermal filler is a syringe pre-filled with a smooth, hyaluronic acid gel and lidocaine. Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that attracts water and acts as a moisturizer underneath the skin when injected as a gel form. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that is mixed into the gel to numb the area being treated. By injecting this product into areas like the laugh lines or cheeks, one can enjoy a restored, more youthful look in a matter of minutes.
Some of the more popular dermal fillers are; Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, Belotero, etc. Each filler is designed to treat a specific area depending on the depth of the volume loss. Each product has a different molecular consistency (thicker or thinner) to fill the area of concern.
This treatment is truly an art form and the providers at New Body Regenerative Medical Spa are masters ready to form and sculpt a natural look for their patients.
What areas can dermal fillers treat?
- Lips
- Laugh lines (nasolabial folds)
- Cheeks
- Temples
- Lower eye darkness (tear trough)
- Pre-jowl
- Deeply pitted acne scars
Is there any downtime?
Medications or supplements that thin blood should be discontinued two weeks prior to your injection appointment to prevent bruising; however, some bruising and swelling are to be expected post-treatment. You may experience redness at the injection site, but it should subside within a few days. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities after these treatments. Post-treatment instructions will be provided at the time of your appointment. Please make sure to follow post-instructions for optimal healing.
How long will dermal fillers last?
The duration of the longevity of a dermal filler is about 6 months to 2 years depending on the area that is injected, and how quickly the patient metabolizes the product. Usually, fillers around the mouth tend to wear off more quickly because that area of the face is used frequently when speaking or making facial expressions. Fillers in the cheek and pre-jowl area may take longer to dissipate in some patients.
In some cases, PRP (platelet rich plasma) is added to the filler treatment for a maximized facial rejuvenation. Most patients that have had both treatments in conjunction have been very satisfied with the results.
Am I a candidate for dermal fillers?
- If you are an adult in good health and are looking for a minimally invasive way to rejuvenate your facial features then dermal fillers might be something to look into. Our consultations are complimentary and if you’re the right candidate the treatment may be performed the same day if our schedule permits.
