Epidermal planing or
Epidermal planing or "Dermaplaning" uses a surgical blade to perform a deep exfoliation. The edge of the scalpel is used at a 45-degree angle to scrape the build-up of dirt and oils in and around the skin and vellus hair. Dermaplaning gives skin a fresh, smooth appearance due to the sterile aesthetician-grade blade that is used during the procedure. The blade is stroked along the skin at an angle to gently “shave off” dead skin cells from the epidermis. Dermaplaning also temporarily removes the fine vellus hair of the face, leaving a very smooth surface. Advanced Exfoliation: This type of exfoliation removes dead skin cells, allowing home care products to be more effective. In addition, dermaplaning exfoliation can also: * Reduce the appearance of fine lines * Even skin tone * Assist in reducing milia * Reduce minor breakouts associated with congested pores Another exciting aspect of Adonia Dermaplaning is that it can be an effective exfoliation method for clients that previously have been unable to have similar treatments due to couperose (tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin), sensitive skin or allergies that prevent the use of microdermabrasion or chemical peels. It is also important to note that due to the contours of the face, certain areas of the face (such as the eyelids and nose) are not treatable using this method.
